CEBL SUMMER SERIES – EDMONTON ESCAPES HAMILTON COMEBACK

@DonaldHigney
The Hamilton Honey Badgers overcame a 19 point deficit but didn’t have enough gas in the tank to finish the job, eventually falling to the Edmonton Stingers 88-82.
It was the closest Elam Ending to date, with Hamilton’s Duane Notice spearheading the comeback. Unfortunately, he hurt his ankle on a drive to the basket and did not return to play.
Jean-Victor Mukama hit a three pointer to tie the game at 82. Then Edmonton’s Mambi Diawara hit a three to give them the lead and one bucket closer to the target score. On the other end Briante Weber threw a bad pass off the fingertips of a teammate, causing a turnover.
To seal the game, last year’s MVP Xavier Moon got enough space from a Jordan Baker screen to hit the game-winning three.
The Player of the Game was given to Baker, who had 17 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. Brody Clarke had 14 points off the bench.
For Hamilton, they are now left with a major hole at the guard spot with Notice’s injury.
They will play the Fraser Valley Bandits on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. while the Edmonton Stingers will play the Niagara River Lions on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
